New feature (?)

Since this blog is geared towards students of music (I use "students" in the broadest possible sense), I thought it might be interesting to review some music theory websites and "teach yourself to read music" kinds of books. It seems to me that people spend plenty of time reviewing the more scholarly theory books (i.e., those written for an audience of specialists), and those reviews also tend to be written for specialists. But what about the person who sees a book that purports to teach you to read music in 10 easy lessons on the bargain shelf at Barnes and Noble? Is this worth the time and effort? Could I learn just as easily from a website?

I'm going to try and put a few of these together over the course of the semester, so stay tuned...

Lots to blog about

Can there only be one interpretation?
