Lubbock Symphony Orchestra

The Lubbock Symphony Orchestra will give its first concert of the season on Friday Sept. 22 and Saturday Sept. 23 at the Civic Center Auditorium. Tickets are sold out for the Friday show, but there might be some left for Saturday night. If you bring a student ID you can get two tickets for $10.

The program consists of Berstein's West side story overture, the Ravel piano concerto in G with Christopher O'Riley as soloist, and the Rachmaninoff second symphony.

BTW, if the name Christopher O'Riley sounds familiar, you may recognize him as the host of NPR's program From the Top, which showcases young musicians from around the country. He's also released several recordings of his transcriptions of Radiohead songs.
